The Bumble Bees

5 Rooms and 4 Outdoor play areas

Learning Activities

The Bumble Bees

A specialist self contained nine place baby room with its own kitchen and changing area for our youngest babies that provides a home from home environment with comfy chairs for feeding and cuddles. This is a lovely calm and tranquil room that encourages babies to develop and progress. Practitioners monitor the babies' development which is recorded in a daily home to nursery diary.

The Caterpillar Crew

This room provides our older babies with the space and resources to help them on to their feet. A wide range of stimulating activities is organised including both free and structured play, craft, painting, singing and story time.

The Den (Pre-School)

These children have their own Pre-school building known as “The Den” with free flow into the outside garden. During their stay in the Den, Practitioners make sure that the children are ready for school in the September after their 4th birthday. The Den is zoned into areas that correspond with the outcomes of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The quiet room provides a chill out zone that includes a book corner, IT area and sensory lights. The Den has direct access to 2 outdoor play areas, the den garden and the woodland play area, both of which provide covered areas for outside activities all year round.

Learning Activities

The Butterfly Bunch

Children start in the Butterfly Bunch at about 18 months to 2 years old. At this age children are learning about independence, so the Early Years Practitioners focus on the children's desire to explore and experiment helping them to progress and develop their individual interests. They encourage the children to extend their language and vocabulary through a range of activities including circle time, rhymes and songs as well as simple games. Potty training is a high priority and our bathroom area accommodates all stages of toileting needs.

The Squirrels Nest

The children in The Squirrels Nest are being prepared for the pre-school. Always with play, fun and games children enjoy new challenges and experiences; they start to learn some of the basic phonic sounds which are the building blocks to reading, to count and recognise numbers, to enjoy stories and books, to be creative and physically active.
